Gettysburg Trip

So it has been almost a month since vacation but I have not added a post. Whoops. So here it is.

We drove as a family to Gettysburg, PA. On the way we stopped at an African Safari Wildlife Park. It's a drivethru safari and you can feed alpacas, buffalo, giraffes, etc. We all had a great time there!

The kids both got animals from the safari. The stuffed kind of course!

While in Gettysburg we had a ton of fun. We had a formal tour of the battlefield and checked parts out more on our own.
Dad, Danielle, Marty and I went on the guided tour together. Here we are at the michigan monument on the battlefield.

The peace monument.
And I had to get a picture of the original train station where Lincoln arrived for the Gettysburg Address.

We spent a lot of time at Devils Den on the battlefield. There were a lot of photo opportunities :)

There are many times I didn't get pictures and now wish I would have. We had dinner a couple nights at a school park. The kids were able to play and everyone was able to relax and have a good time. The kids loved swinging but I think the favorite thing was bubbles!

And finally, a picture of the view on the drive home.

Thank you Papa and Grandma for another great family trip!!!

Run or Dye and Marty's 29!

Saturday I had another 5K. I had never done a color run before and I always wanted to, but if you've ever checked prices, they're expensive. I just could talk myself into spending that kind of money on a run when I have other things it could go to. However, this time I pre-registered, and had 2 coupon codes. I had a discount of 50%! So I signed up!

It was hot on Saturday and that "dye" is not good for the lungs, so I ran less than I normally do. But I she'd just over a minute off my time! If I would have ran like usual it would have been a minimum of 3 minutes off my last 5K time!

Anyways, I loved it but I don't think I'll do another one. I'm still coughing up the dye 3 days later.

After

I think I have ruined the clothes I wore that day.

We had dinner that night out at Papa and Grandma's. Dad made pork chops. We also had deviled eggs, fruit, carrots, corn and potatoes. Sooo yummy! It was a celebration of May (Loyale and Bruce) and June (Marty) birthdays! For dessert was a Sundae bar. And the kids got to go in the big tub!

Sunday was Marty's actual birthday. He's 29! He didn't get a ton from us for his birthday. But he needed a new pair of shorts so I got him those. And the kids got him kettle corn popcorn and a box of oatmeal cream pies, 2 of his favorite snacks. Mackenzie ended up being sick most of Saturday night and Sunday morning so I made French toast for his birthday breakfast. Once Mackenzie felt better Marty decided he wanted Qdoba for lunch. We came home and had a relaxing afternoon inside and out then had dinner at Famous Dave's in Grand Rapids. We haven't eaten there in at least 3 years so it was a nice treat. They have Texas sized BBQ and it's delicious. I brought half of my meal home and had it for lunch today!
Relaxing in the car and sleeping on the way home!

Finally a bit of an update on Mackenzie, she has a spot in preschool this fall!!! Three half days a week starting in the fall, she's sooo excited! And both of kids will be in catechism in the fall also. Mackenzie had her first year this year, and Cameron's first year starts in the fall. For the next 2 years they will be in the same class. They're both excited for that to start as well.

Kids and Cleaning

So over the last 3 weeks someone has been going with Marty to work a couple days a week.

Three weeks ago my mom watched the kids for a couple days so I could spend time with Marty. He was working, but that's the joy of having a truck driver for a husband. You can always go to work with him.

Last week Mackenzie went with him for 3 days while Cameron and I had some Mommy son time.

We spent a ton of time just hanging out, making faces, and having fun.

This week Caneron went with Marty. He got to spend two days in the truck so Mackenzie and I had girl time. We cleaned her room...
Before
After 3.5 hours of cleaning

We organized and got rid of a bunch of toys in the living room/play area...
This is not before, but after I started piles of stuff
After
And this kid has too many cars/trucks/trains/planes. He has three boxes like this, full :/

We also had some fun. Mackenzie had a makeover done by me. She also got at home mani/pedi by mommy.

We spent some time outside, went to Zumba, she loves to cook so she helped me make lasagna one night for dinner.

Today I will be cleaning/organizing Cameron's room. It's time to remove the baby furniture from his room. He no longer needs the changing table and his bassinet is still in the corner. My babies aren't babies anymore :(
