Pet Expo

Over the weekend Marty and I took the kids to the pet expo in Grand Rapids. We have discussed getting another dog. Buddy would love a playmate and the kids want another dog. We have not got one but we're tossing the idea around. Why not go check out available, adoptable dogs? The kids had a blast. They had pony rides, a small dog show, wild animals and a ton of dogs and cats. If anything you can pet all of the animals!

A cat rescue was there doing an art prize project. A female cat with her mate, over 5 years can produce up to 11,000 other cats. They had kids coloring cat heads to put together a cat head collage. Of course the kids added their cat heads!

Mackenzie's awesome cat head!

Cameron's cat head!

Overall, it was a fun day. We did not adopt a dog this weekend. We found 2 that were possibilities and decided to wait until after the weekend. If they were still available, we would have a calm meeting with the new dog and Buddy. Both of the dogs were adopted. We are tossing the idea around and will look for the perfect addition to our family if we get one.

Potty Training and Birthdays

About a week ago we started potty traing cameron. It's true, boys are harder than girls. I think it will be a long process :/ Longer than it was with Mackenzie. To help him, we let him pick out his own potty. A bright green frog. And he picked out a pack of big boy underwear, Thomas the train. He loves wearing them and sitting on his potty. I think that's the only thing that has gotten us this far.

Also, Cameron will be 3 in a month! He decided he wants a Disney Cars birthday, at the bowling alley. So it's scheduled, on his birthday. It falls on a Saturday and how often does anyone get to have their party on their actual birthday?!

The kids have been doing coloring pages about lent. We're doing a Lenten adventure activity everyday through lent. They seem to really enjoy it. After they're done, we're using the activities and making them each a book about lent and Easter. Mackenzie is really excited to finish it and have her book made.

I have also been doing some early shopping for Easter basket items. Mackenzie asked for a cross necklace and I think she'll love the one I found for her.

I have also found an Easter story, story book and coloring book for each of them from a great company called The Carholic Company. They have a ton of resources for anything you can think of. I also got a small pocket booklet to help teach the kids how to pray the rosary.

Have a great day and lent! It's time to do today's Lenten adventure pages!
